DCE appeals to community leaders
DCE urges community leaders to educate citizens on taxes Mr Frank Baidoo, the District Chief Executive for Akuapem South has appealed to community leaders in the area to help educate the people to pay their taxes and levies to enable the Assembly generate funds for more projects.

He said the Assembly alone could not undertake the task of sensitizing the citizenry on their tax obligations and that there was the need for traditional rulers, assembly members and the unit committee members to support.
Mr Baidoo made the appeal when he address a Town Hall Meeting organized by the Assembly at Aburi in the Eastern Region to inform the public on the progress of development in the district and the projects envisaged by the Assembly.
He mentioned some projects undertaken by the Assembly within two years as the construction of a Day Care Centre at Konkonduru, a six-classroom block at Agyiri, and Dumpong, a clinic and toilet facilities at Brekuso and Aburi.
Others were the grading of a land at Otiakrom for the construction of a market, a lorry park, and rehabilitation of the Kitaase road, Djankama schools, Preprawoani Clinic, Ajamanti CHPS Compound, Dumpong Teachers Quarters, and the Aburi Police Station.
Mr Appiah Kubi, the Information Officer of Adoagyiri-Nsawam who presented the overview of government’s programmes and policies said the expansion of the School Feeding Programme, the One District One Dam and Planting for Food and Jobs had created many job opportunities for the youth.
He said the government has revived the National Health Insurance Scheme while cocoa farmers have been supplied with fertilizers to increase the production of cocoa, paid teachers and nurses allowance.
Osabarimah Dr Professor Opare Addo II, the Chief of Ahwerease who chaired the function commended the District Chief Executive and Mr O.B. Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Aburi for supporting in the implementation of projects in the district and urged them not to rest on their oars.
He called on the people to shun their political differences and support in the education of the public of their tax obligation to improve revenue mobilization for the Assembly to carry out its mandate of providing social amenities to enhance their living standard.
