AGOTIME ZIOPE:George Dzikpe is district best farmer

Mr.George Dzikpe has been adjudged the overall District Best Farmer in the Agotime-Ziope District in the Volta Region.

Mr.George Dzikpe has been adjudged the overall District Best Farmer in the Agotime-Ziope District in the Volta Region.

He took home 30 bags of cement, 2paires of boots, 1piece of cloth, 4 cutlasses, 40 bars of key soap, and knapsack sprayer.

The District which held the 29th edition of the Farmers’ Day on December 18, 2013 also honoured farmers for their immense contributions towards the development of agriculture in the district.

The Agotime-Ziope District Chief Executive, Michael Kobla Adzaho urged the youth to take agriculture seriously as it has the potential to improve their economic status.

According to him, government was aware of the challenges confronting the agric sector especially with storage and value addition and is making frantic efforts to improve the situation. The buffer stock company he indicated has been established to deal with some of these challenges especially during bumper harvest when farmers hardly get any good prices for their produce to make profit or break even.

He said the company is well equipped to buy and preserve farm produce for future use and urged the farmers to take advantage of it to increase production.
