Adaklu-Waya, capital town of the newly created Adaklu District in the Volta Region is to get a police station soon.

This followed the completion of a Police operational office, an apartment for the station officer and living quarters for other police personnel. The facilities were provided through community self-help programmes.

Mr John Owiredu-Nkansah, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), led a team of Police Officers from Ho, including Mr Nicholas Opare Ofosuhene, Ho Municipal Superintendent of Police, to inspect the facilities on Thursday.

He praised community leaders and the District Assembly for living up to expectation.

Mr Owiredu-Nkansah, who is also the Deputy Volta Regional Police Commander, however, called for certain construction variations to make the police cell escape-proof and to provide additional water storage facilities at the residencies.

He said the Police Administration had drawings of proto-type Police Station blocks, and that the administration was ready to hand the drawings over to communities who desired to put up police posts.

The team was taken round the facilities by Mr Sky Emmanuel Ganaku, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) and some officials of the Assembly.

The Adaklu-Waya police post brings to two the number of police stations in the Adaklu District after the one at Adaklu-Tsriefe.
