Mr Emmanuel Sky Ganaku, a Chartered Financial Analyst, was confirmed as Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) on Friday.

He got the approval of 17 members of the assembly, representing 94.4 per cent) in an election supervised by Electoral Commission.

The district had been without a DCE since its inauguration last year as a result of a stalemate among the Assembly members.

Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Volta Regional Minister said the competitive spirit in the conduct of political affairs in the country means that Municipal and District Chief Executives must perform creditably at the local level.

He said the DCEs must be development oriented to win the confidence of the people.

Mr Afotey-Agbo said: “It is important to note that at this stage of our development, it is vital for all assemblies to develop their zonal, urban, town and area councils as well as the unit committees to ensure that a firm foundation is laid for decentralization process.”

He said well functioning structures are necessary to ensure development.

Mr Ganaku pledged to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He said the district has many tourist attractions and arable lands, which should be developed to generate revenue and create jobs for the youth.

Mr Kwami Agbodzah, Member of Parliament for the area said: “The confirmation of the DCE is the beginning of the total transformation of the district.”

Togbe LabluluTegbeza V, Chief of Adaklu Waya said the district could only develop in an atmosphere of peace and unity and appealed to all to “put their shoulders to the wheel to move the district forward”.

Mr Ganaku was sworn into office by the Ketu-North District Magistrate, Mr Anthony Abrebrese.
