PRU: Assembly distributes fertilizers to farmers.
As part of measures to improve upon farming in the country, the Pru District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has procured 758 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the various communities to boost their farm yield in the coming year.

As part of measures to improve upon farming in the country, the Pru District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has procured 758 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the various communities to boost their farm yield in the coming year.
The fertilizers which cost 43,000 Ghana Cedis was aimed to assist farmers improve on farm produce to feed the country and export some to foreign markets.
Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, the District Chief Executive Hon. Masawud Mohammed further disclosed that as effort to reduce post harvest looses in the District, government has therefore introduced the Value Change Concept system of farming.
The system will allow government to buy the harvested crops directly from farmers and later sell to the major markets at a specific period of time, expected to avoid shortage of particular food stuff in the country.
According to the DCE, these provisions are deliberately intended to help encourage farmers to cultivate abundantly throughout the farming season.
Hon. Mohammed further urged the youth in the district to engage in the Block Farming Concept as a mean of reducing the rate of unemployment in the community. He added that government has promised to support this system by providing the farmers with farming materials such as fertilizers, Ploughs, pesticides and wedicides to enhance cultivation.
He added that the implementation will as well provide skills training on farm practices to ensure that the majority of the youth in the area are enrolled onto the system, adding that the district has so far invested 36,000 Ghana cedis into the Block Farming system.
