Assembly-members of the newly inaugurated Biakoye District on Thursday questioned the "habitual absence" of their Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwasi Bandua from programmes of the district.

They recounted his absence during the inauguration of the district, the investiture of elected and appointed assembly-members recently and at its maiden two-day ordinary general meeting of last Thursday and Friday.

They alleged, in all cases his failure to appear physically or have someone representing him, which they claim was leaving vacuum in the administration of the district and needed attention.

They requested the administrators of the District to find answers to their observation as the development was anti-development.

Mr James Moari, District Coordinating Director, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that Mr Bandua was always invited for all activities of the district courtesy his confidante anchor, one Agbeko from the Bowiri area.

He conceded that the MP was on a national assignment at the time of the inauguration of the district but thought that a representation would have been proper.

Meanwhile, in a telephone chat with Mr Bandua, he said honouring invites depended on several factors and work load at hand.

He added that he chairs a committee in Parliament and if that "coincides with invites, there is nothing more to do."

On a question of if he receives invites for the district’s programmes at all? He answered: "ask them, ask them."

Disagreements on the siting of its district capital became a contentious issue until its inauguration recently but some constituents still remain unperturbed about this development as the hold on to that position by abstaining from the latest local level elections.
