Nana Okoto Kofi III, Paramount Chief of Nkonya has urged people from the newly inaugurated Biakoye District Assembly to forge unity of purpose and reposition themselves to accelerate development.

He tasked them to redouble their efforts to harness the human and
material resources within their jurisdiction to enhance socio-economic
growth.

Nana Okoto Kofi gave the advice during the inauguration of the Biakoye District Assembly at Nkonya Ahenkro, where 35 members out of the 48 capacity House were sworn into office.

Eleven electoral areas in the district failed to participate in the recent local level elections due to the stalemate over the location of the district capital.

Nana Louis Akata, 57, Educationist was confirmed as the first District Chief Executive while Mr Godwin Aboyo-Owusu, 37, Agriculturist was elected as the Presiding Member.

Nana Okoto Kofi said it behoves the traditional authorities to unite their subjects and maintain the peace, which were essential ingredients for development.

“We must all embrace hard work and discipline to succeed. The era of antagonism, litigation and anguish should be relegated to the background,” he said.

He advised the youth to acquire employable skills and eschew negative tendencies such as drug abuse, armed robbery and teenage pregnancy to propel them to become self-reliant.
