The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Fanteakwa district in the Eastern region, Abass Fuseini Sbaabe has presented start-up kits and tools worth over GHC 100,000 to 30 graduate apprentices who were trained in various vocations run by the Rural Enterprise Project (REP) at Ahomahomasu.

The apprentices underwent training in electronics and electricals, hairdressing, carpentry and masonary, among others.

Presenting the items, Abass Fuseini Sbaabe told the recipients that the tools were presented to them by REP with sponsorship from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the African Development bank(ADB).

According to him, the kits were intended to help them start their own businesses and to give them the necessary financial support to help reduce the dependency rate in the area.

The DCE noted that the district assembly had committed resources, including furniture, equipment and staff to facilitate the expansion of the project because of its financial empowerment.

He advised the youth in the district to take advantage of the programme, adding that they should register and benefit from the programme instead of engaging in social vices such as armed robbery and prostitution, among others to reduce HIV/AIDS infections.
