(SAMPA) JAMAN NORTH : District gets new bank.

Ghana Commercial Bank has opened a new branch at Sampa in Jaman North District of Brong-Ahafo, bringing the total number of branches of the bank in the region to 17.

Ghana Commercial Bank has opened a new branch at Sampa in Jaman North District of Brong-Ahafo, bringing the total number of branches of the bank in the region to 17.
   
Mr. John Agyemang-Budu, Sunyani Area Manager, explained that it was
the commitment of the government to establish branches of the bank in all district capitals due to their economic potentials.
    
He appealed to cashew farmers, traders, workers and other business
people at Sampa to endeavour to do business with the bank.
    
Ms. Joyce Attakorah, General Manager, Branch Operations, called for
the co-operation of the people of Sampa and not to hesitate to report all dubious activities in their interactions with the bank
    
Mr. Joseph Date, deputy Director, Human Resource, stated that the bank
also operated international money transfer services and asked the people to alert their relatives abroad about the presence of the bank in the district.
   
Madam Elizabeth Obah, District Chief Executive, noted that “prudent measures taken by the NPP government on banking have led to the reduction in interest and inflation rates, whilst government borrowing from traditional banks have also reduced, making more funds available to the bank’s customers as well as the period needed for the processing of loans by the banks”.

    
Nana Kwadwo Magsah II, acting president of Sampa traditional council, who presided, urged officials of the bank to employ local professionals and pledged the total support and commitment of the people and the traditional authorities to the bank.

    
He commended the government for creating the Jaman North District which he said has led to the establishment of the bank in Sampa, the district capital.

    
Nana Magsah promised the lease of a bigger tract of land for the construction of the bank’s permanent premises at Sampa.

    
Many residents lined up to open accounts with the bank after the ceremony.
