The Nanumba South National Youth Employment Scheme has been compelled to suspend agro-business module due to lack of funds.

The District Scheme Coordinator, Mr Issah Shahadu who revealed this to Ghanadistricts.com said the scheme was previously operating five modules including health assistance, teaching assistance, waste and sanitation, sanitation guards and agro-business.

"But since funds are not forth coming, we have decided to suspend the agro-business module. " We lack inputs, funds and other logisticts to be able to do any meaningful farming this season, so until those problems are resolved nothing can be achieved under the module."

Payment of allowances he said must be given a second look if the scheme is to operate effectively. The delay in payment is realy a problem and must be revisited, he said.

The scheme has registered about 457 people but employed 265 of them including 167 as teaching assistants, 52 as health assistants, 36 under waste and sanitation and 10 as sanitation guards.

He however, assured that the rest of the registered members would be considered when more modules are unvailed.
