Wa East to benefit from 1D1W project
The Wa East District in the Upper West Region has been selected among 50 districts to benefit from the first phase of government’s project on “One District, One Warehouse” initiative for storage of agricultural produce.

Ten communities in the District have also been selected for the first phase of the “One Village, One Dam” programme aimed at boosting agricultural activities and raising revenue of farmers who are mostly occupied in peasant farming.
The District Chief Executive of Wa East District Assembly, Mr Jotie Moses, who said this in a conversation with Ghanadistricts.com, described the move as privileged for the district been selected to commence the two programmes in the agricultural sector.
Mr Moses said, the contract to the district warehouse project has been awarded to Hodidi Real Estates and Construction Company Limited and work will soon begin.
The project when completed will probably have storage capacity of up to 1,000 metric tons of grains.
He said this will help reduce post-harvest losses, enable our farmers to benefit fully from their labour by reducing the activities of the middle men, and also encourage our farmers to increase their yield.
Communities that have been chosen for the One Village One Dam programme include Kata, Kulkpong, Kpalworgu, Kundugu, Funsi, Kuyebin, Yaala, Tuosa, Loggu, and Naaha.
He added that the assembly was happy the Executive Committee also prioritized education sector of which funds had been released to the Ghana Education Service to organise a district wide mock examination for the 2018 BECE candidates.
He said a contract had been awarded for the rehabilitation of some Units of classroom blocks at Manwe.
