Ga East Assembly holds town hall meeting
In accordance with Section 40 of the Local Governance Act 2016, Act 936, the Ga East Municipal Assembly has held its first Town Hall meeting for the year 2022 at the Church of Pentecost in Taifa.

Addressing a cross section of stakeholders, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Madam Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, said the meeting was to discuss and evaluate the progress of programmes and projects of the Assembly.
According to her, such programs are organized periodically to create an opportunity for the citizenry to participate in the decision-making process and also help deepen the democracy and local governance.
She noted that the forum was also to afford them the opportunity to monitor, evaluate and review the implementation of the assembly’s Annual Action Plan for 2021, the assembly’s revenue performance and its annual budget.
Madam Kaakie Mann also spoke about some developmental challenges in the municipality and plans being put in place to address these challenges.
Sanitation
Touching on matters of sanitation, Madam Kaakie Mann noted that, the Assembly is strictly enforcing its bye laws to ensure proper sanitation in the municipality.
She further revealed that, the Regional Coordinating Council is also taking necessary steps to ensure the establishment of a Waste Transfer Stations, within the municipality, a move she added, was critical to the successful implementation of the “Operation Clean Your Frontage” campaign.
She therefore appealed to residents to abide by the various sanitation regulations and bye-laws by keeping their surroundings clean at all times.
Roads
The MCE also indicated that the Assembly is making efforts to fix all poor roads in the Municipality.
She said the government will soon commence work on some new major and town roads as part its “Year of Roads” policy.
She assured that the Abokobi, Abokobi-Teiman, Abokobi-Pantang and Abokobi-Old Ashongman have all been earmarked for construction under the Sinohydro project.
She added that, road construction works will soon begin at Haatso, Agbogba, Akatsi Abor, Taifa North and South, Kwabenya, Bohye-Summer Hut, Ashongman Estate and surroundings.
Security
The MCE revealed that the Assembly has installed about 200 streetlights in some parts of the Municipality to enhance security during late hours.
She concluded by calling on all to rally behind the government and the Assembly as they strive to accelerate development in the area.
