Ga East Assembly accounts to the people at its second Town Hall Meeting

The Ga East Municipal Assembly in line with section 40 of the Local Governance Act, 2016, Act 936 honoured its obligations to the people at the Second Town Hall Meeting at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Abokobi.

Town Hall meetings are held to render account of the Assembly’s stewardship by way of resources put under their care, and also allowing citizens’ participation in the development of their communities.

And the Ga East Assembly did just that as it discussed its Planned Activities and Composite Budget for the ensuing year; as well as give account of some of the development projects the Assembly has undertaken.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Deborah Ampofo addressing the gathering announced that through the District Road Improvement Program, the Assembly is on course to addressing one of the major challenges of the Municipality being poor roads. According to her, since the Assembly took delivery of its DRIP equipment, nine (9) electoral areas have had their roads improved as the exercise continues.

Participants also had the chance of being sensitized on a number of issues of importance including HIV/AIDS, outbreak of cholera, child protection, and utility regulations among others.

Meanwhile, the MCE called on all stakeholders to continue to partner and cooperate with the Assembly to carry out its mandates to improve the lives of the people in the Municipality.

On the upcoming general elections slated for December 7, 2024, Madam Deborah Ampofo urged particularly the youth to desist from any undemocratic conduct that has the tendency of disrupting the peace and unity of the country as the core of the election is to elect leaders to manage the country.
