The MCE who is said to have received the sad news whiles hosting dignitaries at this year’s trade fair held in Keta to showcase and market the products of the Municipality to the world, could not utter a word as tears start flowing uncontrollably.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the MCE managed to describe the first gentleman in the fourth Republic of Ghana as a true son of the country who fought with his life to put the country on the right track.

"I received the news as shocking one because I saw him just last Sunday here in Keta, little did I know he will sojourn to his maker. My recent encounter with the late former President was during his mother's funeral about two weeks ago at Dzelukope. You know Rawlings is a son of the Keta Municipality, I prepared his mother's death certificate together with the burial permit" Godwin Effah has stated.

He, however, said the death of Chairman Rawlings will create a great vacuum to the country especially to the Anlo State, claiming that the whole Anlo state is hardly hit by his demise.

The former President is said to have died last Thursday morning at exactly 10:10 am while receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
