As part of the government’s agenda in reducing youth unemployment in the country, the Kintampo Municipal Business Advisory Centers has organized a day workshop for stakeholders, and Association of small scale industries (ASSI), Garages Association, Welders Association, Dressmakers Association, and Hairdressers Association to introduce and educate them on this important government project.
Mr. John Hammond, the director for Kintampo Municipal Business Advisory Centre, highlighted details behind the training.
According to him, the programme which is being funded by World Bank and Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP) seeks to support skills development and job creation in the country.
He added that, this programme will train the youth in the municipality within a month, adding that the programme will be targeting the youth aged between 18 and 40 with Minimum of Basic Education Certificate Examination, and willing to start businesses of their own.
He added that special attention would be given to women and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).”
He again added the mood of registration would be online but few hard copies would be at the office and for further information their office is always open.
The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Alhaji S.Y. Inusah, in his address, inspired all to attach seriousness to the programme “gone are the day’s people were given jobs and a car right after school, but now the economic conditions have become so hard that the least opportunity we get, one must make good use of it”.
“Respected and rich people in the country are those entrepreneurs and self-employed” so for that matter they should encourage their trainers to apply.
He concluded by adding that Ghana can be “transformed through working with our hand and it will improve our economic condition of living”.
