Minister for Planning cuts sod for a multi-purpose resource center

The Minister for Planning and Member of Parliament for Wenchi Prof George Gyan-Baffour has cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern edifice in Wenchi as a Business Advisory Centre/Rural Enterprises Programme of the National Board for Small Scale Industry (NBSSI) under the Ministry of Trade.

This is to train and impart knowledge and self-employed skills and expertise to the indigenous people in the area aimed at building the capacity of the local artisanal industry and expand the local economy with a robust informal sector.

Professor Gyan-Baffour stressed the need to actualize the project to expand job creation opportunities to end the desperate search and over-reliance on white colour jobs to make the constituents well-educated business entrepreneurs.



The Municipal Chief Executive Dr. Prince Kwakye Afriyie emphasized 70% local content and tasked the contractor for the project MMANAB Company Limited - KNUST Kumasi to engage Wenchi youth and indigenous artisans to boost the local economy and also reduce the risks and cost associated with the importation of workers elsewhere.

The Head of Works Prince Akomeah for the MMANAB Company Ltd assured of completing the project within schedule as one of the unquestionable track records of the company.



The multi-purpose project on a contract duration of 9 months to construct is 2-Storey Building which would have facilities such as Business Centre, Advisory & Training Centre, Conference Hall, Café/IT Centre, Marketing Department, Show Room, Reception, General Office, Administration, other Administrative Offices, Waiting Room, Store Room, Washrooms, Kitchen, Car Park, etc.

The Architect and team leader Edward Agyemang Prempeh of Architectural & Engineering Services Limited (AESL) Sunyani being the Consultants for the project showed the artistic design.
