Mr. Francis Kofi Baah the District Chief Executive of the Sene East District in the Brong Ahafo Region said one area of concern in the fight against insanitary environmental conditions is inadequate toilet facilities.

He said the practice where people build houses without putting up household toilets has persisted for a long time and people are compelled by the situation to adopt a number of ways to attend natures call.

In communities where they are lucky to have public toilets then it gives the people some relieve but when public toilet is also not available, people resort to the use of bushes around and polluting the environment.

He said his administration is however putting in place measures to address the situation.

According to him, while they continue to encourage provision of household toilets, a number of public toilet facilities are also being built.
One of them is the 10-seater aqua-privy toilet facility at Kojokrom which is under construction.

He added, the construction has become necessary because the one serving the community has collapsed and the intervention is to prevent people from engaging in open defecation.
