The Kandahar boys, a vigilante group belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) recently stormed the District Assembly complex where they were reported to have destroyed some property and beaten a Deputy Coordinator Director to pulp.

According to the residents, such acts of lawlessness cannot be allowed to go on in any civilized society and have therefore indicated their readiness to protect Madam Iddrisu Mariam, the DCE and the district assembly at all cost.

They disclosed to the media that the conduct of the party vigilante group which is not the first time is aimed towards tarnishing the image of the area and therefore see their latest decision as the appropriate antidote to averting a recurrence.

According to them, the hoodlums outside the district are trying very hard to tarnish the image of Sagnarigu by creating problems to destabilize the peace in the district.

The youth of the area at a media briefing, said they have been quiet over the unfortunate development because they did not want to be seen usurping the authority of leaders of the area but once they have spoken, they will also confront the matter head on

In this light, they have warned any party youth who believes he or she can use violence to address concerns at the assembly to be prepared to incur their wrath

“For the first time we have witnessed violent protest and chaos in the district and unfortunately the leadership of the NPP were quiet about it. But we the youth of Sagnarigu will not allow this to happen again. We will strongly resist anybody who wants to create chaos in our district. You can’t just leave your area and go to someone’s to cause problems”. They warned

The Sagnarigu youth reiterated that, any attack on the DCE and the District Assembly is an attack on the people of Sagnarigu, adding that, they will fight whoever wants to foment trouble in the area.

“If you attack our assembly and our DCE, then you are indirectly attacking us. We are prepared to fight any individuals or group of persons who wants to bring the Sagnarigu District into disrepute”, leader of the group, Alhassan S. Zimblim stated.

“The DCE is a very respectful and hard working woman……she is loved by all and sundry in the district. So I wonder why her own people will want to destroy her. Anyway, she is our DCE and our responsibility … She is the representative of the President and we accord her that respect we shall henceforth give her our protection”. He emphasized.
