N JUABEN: 53 female artisans benefit from VTF Programme

The Deputy Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Nana Adjei-Boateng, has presented assorted equipment worth GHC50, 000.00 to 53 female artisans in the New Juaben North constituency to startup their own businesses.

The equipment were donated by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana under its Vocational Training for Females (VTF) Programme with funding from the Bread for the World Development Services in Germany.

The Programme focuses on improving Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Ghana.

The 53 female artisans were among the young vocational training apprentices in the constituency who after graduating from their training were identified not to have the capital to procure the needed startup equipment.

Presenting the equipment at a short ceremony in Koforidua, Nana Adjei-Boateng, the MP for New Juaben North, said it formed part of the government's vision to create employment to the youth of the country and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of them to generate income for themselves.

On her part, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Comfort Asante, lauded the VTF Programme for supporting the government fulfill the economic needs of Ghanaians.

While pledging to monitor and ensure the sustenance of the economic improvement of the 53 beneficiary artisans, the MCE also pledged the Assembly's readiness to partner the private sector to create more jobs for the people of New Juaben.

The 53 beneficiaries were made up of three caterers, 22 dressmakers and 28 hairdressers.

The Director of the VTF, Linda Agyei, explained that the intervention was to enhance the employment opportunities of women in the society.
