He is however worried that minors are increasingly becoming main actors of crime activities in the municipality and called for concerted efforts to nip such developments in the bud since it does not auger well for the future of these young ones.

The MCE cited incident of June 27, 2017 at the Eid Fetri festival celebration at Bonjour Total fuel station where a juvenile shot and wounded a colleague juvenile, and Tuesday 25 July, 2017 incident in which "a son of the Assembly member for Akurem, Ekow Egyir Arthur, was stabbed to death by a colleague as worrying developments.

Also a July 3, 2017 armed confrontation between the police and armed gangs at Akurem resulting in the death of one of the armed robbers and one police officer also sustaining injury in the process that serve as wake up calls to intensify security measures.

On this particularly incident, the MCE disclosed that they have gathered intelligence that an uncompleted clinic structure now called "Farm" at Akurem is being used as the safe haven by the criminals.

And following on an earlier decision by the assembly in 2013 to clear that structure of the criminals, he (DCE) has been in touch with the families of the deceased owner of the property who have expressed willingness to dispose of the property to the assembly.

To this end, a committee made up of security experts, engineers and assembly members have been set to assess the property in all aspects and advise the assembly appropriately.

He added that for effective management of security, earlier decision to support community watch committees must be supported and called on the assembly members to initiate actions to actualize that decision.
