The workshop under the theme, "Effective Use of Lesson Delivery Techniques", was organised by the Ga South Municipal Conference of Heads of Basic Schools, brought together about 270 teachers from the kindergarten, primary and junior high schools levels.

In his welcome address, Mr. John Gyasten, Chairman of the Ga South Conference of Heads of Basic Schools, expressed delight at their teachers' performance but urged them to always embrace continuing professional programmes that sought to update them on new trends of providing education and training to pupils.

Mr. Anthony Kwaku Amoah, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Schools Project, an NGO, who was the resource person, led discussions on the preparation of lesson plans, preparation of teaching and learning materials, and the stages of lesson presentation.

Mr. Amoah reminded the participants of the importance of games, rhymes and poems in teaching pupils at the kindergarten and primary levels, explaining, "These things help to make learning enjoyable, absorbing and refreshing to our kids".

He urged the participants to continue to be resourceful and professional in the performance of their duties.

"Aside of being seen as dispensers of knowledge, values and aptitudes, we must also perform our task well as facilitators, role models, coaches, and counsellors to the kids who have been entrusted into our hands," he advised.

The participants shared their experiences and suggested ways of tackling pertinent challenges bordering on lack of textbooks and educational materials in their schools.

They appealed to the government and organisations to go to the aid of the schools and the teachers in order to promote quality education delivery across the country.
