An estimated 5,000 others would also be engaged on various pig farms set up by the company and individual farmers to supply about 2,000 pigs to the factory every day.

It would be slaughtering 1,000 pigs each day for processing into sausages, ham and bacon, on completion.

The project is being undertaken by a private investor with support from the municipal assembly.

Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has inspected the progress of work and expressed satisfaction with what he saw.

He said he found it refreshing that it was going to create direct and indirect jobs for the youth.

He added that the project tied in with government's goal of creating jobs and wealth through industrialization.

He underlined their purpose to ensure that there was a business-friendly surroundings to enable the private sector to increase.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Alexander Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the assembly had approached the investor to set up the factory in the area as part of the one-district one-factory (1D1F) policy.

It did not only assist in getting hold of the land but had been providing all the needed support for the soft completion of the project, the DCE stated.

Mr. Frimpong said more investors had expressed interest in establishing businesses in the municipality.
