He cultivates 37 acres of maize, 11 acres Sorghum, 9 acres millet, 4 acres Soya bean, 1 acre vegetables leaves, and 4 acres onion.

With regards to animal production, he has 75 cattle, 53 sheep and goats, 102 fowls, 97 guinea fowls, 7 donkeys and many doves.

For his prize, he took home certificate of recognition and a tricycle.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Ayinga Abagre Yakubu, noted that the Assembly recognized the significant contributions of the farmers in the area and would continue to provide the needed supports to help them increase their production capacity.

He urged the people especially the youth to take agriculture production more seriously as a business because government is committed to improving the agriculture sector to turn the economy of the country around.

According to him, this is the time to take advantage of government interventions like the planting for food and jobs programme in the sector to improve production thereby increasing their incomes.

He indicated that the planting for food and jobs seeks to improve rural economies and food security, adding this is expected to be achieved through the creation of easier and faster access to markets, scale up credit facilities, subsidy for farm inputs and the motivation of extension service providers to increase production, he added.
