According to him, before the assembly can achieve the developmental needs of the area, more revenue need to be collected, therefore, the need for the assembly members to play active role.
Honorable Mustapha said this when he addressed the seventh ordinary session of the fourth Assembly of Central Gonja District on Thursday, January 25,2018. He said the district in the past year failed woefully in meeting its revenue moblization target, which made it difficult for the assembly to tackle most of its development agendas.
He however indicated that, despite the inability of the assembly to achieve the revenue target, the role of the honorable members were worth recognition.
“The assembly projected a total revenue collection of the sum of GH? 944,950.00 by the close of the 2017 fiscal year. At the end of December, 2017 we recorded actual collection of GH?815,327.39 which represent 86.3% of the budgeted figure”
” Despite our inability to collect the entire targeted amount, I think that we still need to commend management for the performance, bearing in mind that the year did not start so smoothly and was characterized by movement of some key personnel from the administration” he added
He further stressed that, “While appreciating the efforts honourable members have put in our revenue collection process so far, I am still calling on you to get involved the more for us to improve on our revenue generation” He noted that, “With an expected total receipt of GH?3, 153,616.00 for the year 2017, the assembly received the sum of GH?979,952.88 as at 31st December 2017 representing three quarterly transfers. Admittedly there were some delays on fund releases last year to assemblies just as other Ministries, Departments and Agencies also experienced. However, honourable members would agree with me that this experience is a common feature associated with change of hands in governance”
