Zabzugu to improve on internally generated funds
Zabzugu District Assembly has instituted measures to improve its internally generated fund, to limit it's over reliance on Central Government.

With a projected local revenue budget of GHc195,110.00 for the 2014 fiscal year, GHC 120,846.60.00, which represents 61.75 percent, was achieved as at September.
Mr Issifu Alidu Laa-Bandow, District Chief Executive, made this known to Ghana News Agency at Zabzugu in the Northern Region, after a budget committee meeting with members of the Finance and Administrative Sub-Committee, revenue collectors and other stakeholders.
He said to address the decline in local revenue a number of issues ought to be addressed, adding: "The Assembly is capable of mobilising twice the projected local revenue budget but for the attitude of the revenue collectors and other factors."
Mr Laa-Bandow said: "With innovative measures in place the Assembly can raise enough revenue to take care of its recurrent expenditures and also embark on minor developmental projects, which will benefit the people."
He said the Assembly has outlined a number of interventions to improve the local revenue for the last quarter of 2014 and 2015 fiscal year.
These include sensitising cattle owners and the people on the need to pay Cattle/Basic/Property rates and activating the Revenue taskforce to assist in the collection of cattle rates.
Other interventions are educating the people on the need to seek building permit before putting up any structure, establishment of a unit within the Works Department solely for issuance of building permits and rrehabilitation of access road to the sand winning sites.
Mr Laa-Bandow said the Assembly would also facilitate the mobility of revenue collectors through periodic maintenance of their motorbikes, quarterly rotation of revenue collectors and setting target for revenue collectors.
The Assembly also hopes to build the capacity of revenue collectors, sanction underperforming revenue collectors and awarding best performing revenue collectors.
