DCE commends female JHS leavers for staying focused

Mr. James Gunu, the Akatsi North District Chief Executive, has praised the 2014 female junior high school leavers at Mitsrikasa for staying focused and committed to pursuing further education or a vocation.

In 2013 all the seven girls either got pregnant or married by the time the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results were released.

 

Mr Gunu was addressing the fifth annual Dunenyoza or Town Development Festival of the people at Metsrikasa-Kpodzi.

 

He said Metsrikasa had been the first to benefit from elimination of schools under trees and that schools, were also benefiting from the school feeding programme.

 

Mr. Gunu said his outfit, in collaboration with Pencil of Promise, an NGO, had started constructing kindergartens in the area and pledged 50 bags of cement towards the community’s kindergarten block project.

 

He expressed joy that that no school scored zero per cent in last years BECE.
