Speaking during the National Sanitation Day exercise in Dambai on July 10, 2026, she said blocked drains, indiscriminate waste disposal and unclean surroundings could expose communities to flooding despite the region’s recent escape from severe incidents.
Sekyere urged residents across the region’ s nine Municipal and District Assemblies to participate in monthly clean-up exercises by clearing gutters, removing weeds and ensuring proper waste disposal.
She also called on traditional leaders, assembly members, youth groups and community organisations to intensify public education and mobilise residents to improve sanitation and protect public health.
