DORMAA W: Ansomana Watara, 44, is district best farmer
Mr. Ansomana Watara, a 44 Year old farmer from Yaakrom in the Dormaa West District in the Brong Ahafo region emerged the best Farmer in the Dormaa West District.

Mr. Watara is into poultry, sheep and cattle rearing, and have plantation of cocoa, oil palm, rubber and growing of vegetables.
The best farmer was awarded with Haojin motorbike, 10 cutlasses, spraying machine, boxes of weedicides, boxes soaps, pieces of cloth, ice chest, wellington boots, mosquito nets and a certificate
Mr Amidu Musah of Nkrankwanta, and Mr Nuhu Musah of Ntensere were also adjudged 2nd 3rd runners-up respectively.
Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Marry Ameyaa said government’s action toward the agriculture sector attest to its commitment to improve and modernize agriculture to help the economy of the country and the bring economic improvement to the farmers as well.
The introduction of a number of initiatives including the planting for food and jobs that provides inputs to farmers show how government is trying to ensure food security while also reducing unemployment particularly among the youth.
She said it is in this light that the theme for this year's event: “Farming for food and Jobs” is not only appropriate but timely particularly when everything including Ghanaian staple foods are being imported whilst youth employment stands at 48 percent".
She therefore urged the farmers as well as the youth in the district to take full advantage of government interventions in the sector to get themselves busy economically and also contribute to sustainable economic growth.
This year’s Famers day celebration held in Yaakrom brought together the Ankobeahene Barima Dei Kusi, Nana Atosi Ababio, the Sumankwaahene of the Dormaa Traditional Council. The Queenmother of the Nkrankwanta Nana Bruya Asamra, Sous Prefet of Dame, Cote Divoire. The District Chief Executive, Hon. Mary Ameyaw , opinion leaders, party functionaries and scores of people.
