WUSC project -INVEST graduates some 100 females in non traditional trade

He said, talents and positive attitude worked hand in hand in the job market and entreated new graduands from the World University Services of Canada, WUSC project-INVEST to exhibit traits of humility, honesty, and faithfulness as they set out to work.
Mr. Ansah, who chaired the graduation ceremony organised by the Ghana Chamber of Construction with 100 female apprentices in trade areas including welding and fabrication, computer hardware and programming, electrical and solar installations, and automobiles.
The females have proved that such trades areas were not the preserved of men only but with the right condition and environment women could also leave their footprints
The Human Resource Manager urged them not to concentrate on gender stereotypes and other myths which could kill their dreams adding, “forget about gender roles...in the kingdom of God, there is no male or female, we are all equal...do well for family, self, and Ghana at large.
Mr. Elvis Appiah-Kubi, the Director of the Project said the graduation also marked the end of a dream to break barrels for girls in male dominated fields.
“This is the third and final graduation of the project and we have shown Ghana that it is possible for women to also become technician and engineers,” he added.
He urged state actors to turn attention of the development of female skills in that regard to create employment, ensure self-empowerment and independence. Mr Emmanuel Cherry, the Chief Executive
Officer of the Chamber of Construction urged the women to use the skills to change their fortunes and asked them not to go back and sit idle but apply the knowledge and skills for their personal growth.
Takoradi Technical Institute, Sekondi-Takoradi Technical Institute, Kansa Motors were heartily awarded by the Chamber for their effectiveness in undertaken the process.
Tools as start-ups were also given to some of the graduands to start work.
