Saboba District Assembly Holds Accounting to the People Forum to Promote Transparency and Citizen Participation

The Saboba District Assembly has organised an Accounting to the People Forum aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and citizen participation in local governance.

The forum, held at the Assembly Conference Hall, was attended by the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, the District Chief Executive, Hon. George Wumbei Bilimor, traditional authorities, Assembly Members, heads of departments, security agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, religious leaders and members of the public.

Addressing participants, Hon. Ali Adolf John underscored the importance of accountability in public administration and urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to remain transparent, responsive and committed to prudent management of public resources.

He commended the Saboba District Assembly for creating a platform that enables residents to engage directly with local authorities, assess government performance and contribute to development planning.

The Regional Minister encouraged citizens to actively support government development programmes by safeguarding public infrastructure, participating in community development initiatives and maintaining close collaboration with the Assembly.

Presenting the Assembly's performance, the District Chief Executive, Hon. George Wumbei Bilimor, described the forum as a practical demonstration of President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to accountable governance under the Reset Agenda.

He noted that the initiative provides residents with the opportunity to evaluate government interventions while offering suggestions to improve public service delivery and local development.

The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to strengthening public engagement, improving transparency and ensuring that development programmes respond to the needs and aspirations of the people of Saboba District.

The forum concluded with an interactive session during which residents raised concerns, sought clarification on development issues and proposed recommendations for improving governance and service delivery within the district.
