Mr. Ahingwah, an assembly member for the Hebron Electoral Area, was contested by Mr. Jerry John Adjorlolo, an assembly member for the Sraha Electoral Area, in the first round of voting, in which Mr.  Ahingwah secured 17 votes while Mr.  Adjorlolo had nine votes, with one rejected.

Mr. Manasseh Ofusuhene Assante, Electoral Commission Officer for Tema Metro, who supervised the election, explained before the election that each contestant was required to secure at least 19 votes out of the 27 total votes to attain the two-thirds majority necessary to be declared a winner.

Before the second round of voting, Mr. Adjorlolo withdrew his candidacy and urged the assembly members to rally behind Mr. Ahingwah to promote development and progress within the Kpone-Katamanso area.

A Yes or No vote was then held where Mr. Ahingwah secured a unanimous Yes vote from the 27 assembly members, making him the elected presiding member.

Mr. Ahingwah, in his acceptance speech, thanked the members of the assembly for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with all members, regardless of differences, to promote unity and ensure the developmental goals of the municipality are achieved.

He mentioned that he would use his position to champion developmental projects, especially in poor roads, water shortages, poor electrical arrangements, and others.
