Ga North Assembly Swears in New Chairperson for Finance and Administration Sub-Committee

The Ga North Municipal Assembly has officially sworn in Hon. Nuhu Mohammed as the newly elected Chairperson of the Finance and Administration (F&A) Sub-Committee.

He was unanimously endorsed by members of the Assembly, securing 100% approval.

The F&A Sub-Committee was established in accordance with Section 24(1a) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates every District Assembly to constitute sub-committees to facilitate the efficient execution of its functions.

The Finance and Administration Sub-Committee, in particular, plays a critical role in overseeing financial management, human resource issues, and administrative planning within the Assembly.

In his remarks, Hon. Nuhu Mohammed who doubles as the Assembly Member of the Abensu Electoral Area expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of the committee for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work closely with the staff of the Assembly to fulfill the committee’s mandate.

“This overwhelming show of confidence isn’t just a personal milestone, it is a powerful reminder of the responsibility we carry as public servants. I don’t take this lightly. I firmly believe this is a call to lead with integrity, to listen more, and to act with a shared purpose of building a more accountable, transparent, and forward-moving Municipality,” he said.

With a background spanning finance, cost accounting, oil and gas operations, public relations, and journalism, Hon. Mohammed brings a rich blend of experience to the role.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), which he says will further inform his leadership on the committee.

He emphasized the critical role of the F&A Sub-Committee as the operational backbone of the Assembly, with core responsibilities including reviewing the Assembly’s financial performance Developing practical strategies for sustainable revenue generation, overseeing budget planning in line with community needs and ensuring compliance with financial regulations to uphold accountability.

“This is a demanding mandate, but one I am ready for. Not alone, but with the support and voices of all who believe in Ga North’s potential,” he added.

Hon. Nuhu Mohammed concluded with a rallying call for continued collaboration and commitment to building strong systems that serve the people of Ga North effectively.
