Madam Mary Haruna, the DCE nominee for the Nadowli-Kaleo District, polled 46 “Yes” votes out of 52 Assembly Members present and voting, representing 88.5 per cent, five “No” votes and one rejected ballot.

In the Wa East District, Mr Adamu Sayibu, the DCE nominee, garnered 28 “Yes” votes, representing 77.78 per cent out of 36 Assembly Members present and voting with eight “No” votes.

In her confirmation address, Madam Haruna expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for her nomination, and the Assembly Members and all stakeholders that played a role in her successful confirmation.

She assured them of her commitment to serving the district wholeheartedly to propel its development and appealed for stronger stakeholder support and collaboration in the discharge of her duties.

Madam Haruna emphasised the need for unity among the people in the district’s development efforts, calling on relevant stakeholders, including the Assembly Members, to prioritise the development needs of the district.

“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the Nadowli-Kaleo District as its Chief Executive. My main purpose will be to unite the Nadowli-Kaleo District”, she stated.

On his part, Mr. Sayibu described his successful confirmation as a “sacrifice” of the Assembly Members in the interest of the district.

He gave the assurance of running an open-door administration to welcome the support and wise counsel of all stakeholders in his work.

He also thanked President Mahama for the confidence reposed in him to represent him at the district level and pledged diligence in the discharge of duties and with the support of relevant stakeholders to “reset the country”.

Mr. Timothy Nbeenaba, the Presiding Member of the Wa East District Assembly, reminded the new DCE that his confirmation was “a test of his credibility” and that he would account to the chiefs and people of the district at the end of his tenure.

Mr. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, the Upper West Regional Minister, thanked the Assembly Members of the two assemblies for honouring the decision of the President by confirming his nominations.

Madam Mary Haruna and Mr Adamu Sayibu were rejected by the Nadowli-Kaleo and Wa East Districts, respectively in April 2025 after they were first nominated by President Mahama.

The President, therefore, re-nominated them on 11th June 2025, which led to their successful conformation.

Mr. Daniel Kwatia Larbi and Mr. Ibrahim Rashad presided over the DCEs confirmation exercises at the Nadowli-Kaleo and Wa East Districts, respectively.
