Agona West YEA Director supports construction of Osamkrom Prison

Mr Frank Freebody Mensah, Agona West Municipal Director of Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has presented undisclosed amount of money to Osamkrom Prisons to support the construction of a security post on the Swedru/Winneba highways to curb the rampant attacks by armed robbers and other criminals on road users.

The donation followed a request made by the Authorities of Osamkrom Prisons when they paid a courtesy call on the YEA Director at his office at Agona Swedru.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr Mensah said the donation formed part of efforts to ensure that the rampant attacks on passengers and others on that stretch of road were curtailed.

He said plying the road leading to Osamkrom Prisons had become risky, especially at night and dawn.

The YEA Director said the construction of the security post would go a long way to deter criminals from their criminal activities against the travelling public.

He called on groups, philanthropists, financial institutions, and private individuals in and around Osamkrom Prisons and beyond to donate towards its early completion.

Chief Superintendent Alexander Otu Bekoe, Commander of Osamkrom Prisons expressed gratitude to the donor and his team for the financial support and assured that it would be judiciously used to achieve its purpose.

Chief Superintendent Bekoe was of the hope that the Prisons Authorities would complete the project as planned to ensure safe environment in and around Osamkrom Prisons to enhance peace and development.

The Commander appealed to NGOs, banks, corporate bodies, individuals, religious bodies, and others to help undertake many other programmes to promote the welfare of the inmates.
