Krachi West Assembly opens to BOT agreement for safe drinking water project
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi West, Prosper K. Addo, has declared the Assembly's readiness to enter into a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement with private investors to address the urgent need for safe drinking water in Kete Krachi and surrounding communities.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Addo explained that boreholes have proven to be an unreliable solution due to the community’s inconsistent water-table.
“The water table in the community if you drill a borehole it is not every part of the community that you will get water from. When it gets to the dry season this water table goes down and then some of the areas in the community are not able to get water.” he stated.
While the community sometimes relies on water from a nearby lake, the MCE bemoaned the health risks associated with untreated water, citing frequent cases of waterborne diseases in the area.
To resolve the issue, Mr. Addo is advocating for the construction of a water treatment plant to purify lake water before distribution.
“Even though we have a lake, people suffer to get water to safe drinking water. So my priority is that we get some investors to come to build some water treatment plants just by the lake, draw the water from the lake, treat it and serve the people”, he emphasized.
However, considering the high costs involved, the Assembly, he added, prefers a BOT arrangement, allowing investors to develop and operate the facility for a specified period before transferring ownership to the government.
