The visit was undertaken in the company of Immigration officers, who are to be stationed at the Agordeke landing site to ensure strict enforcement of regulations, particularly those aimed at preventing boat overloading and promoting orderly operations.

As part of the visit, Hon. Babanawo donated thirty-five (35) life jackets to boat operators in the area to improve safety standards and protect the lives of passengers who depend on water transport for their daily activities.

Addressing boat operators and residents, the DCE emphasized that the deployment of Immigration officers and the donation of life jackets reflect her administration’s strong commitment to improving water transport safety across the district. She urged boat operators and passengers to cooperate fully with the officers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and responsible use of the landing site.

Hon. Babanawo further assured the community that the Agordeke ferry service will be restored within the next few weeks, describing it as a permanent solution to the water transport challenges faced by residents. She explained that while processes are ongoing to reinstate the ferry, the current interventions are immediate measures aimed at safeguarding lives and preventing accidents on the Volta Lake.

Residents and boat operators welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for the safety interventions, describing them as timely steps toward improving water transport and protecting lives in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District.
