The joint campaign was celebrated under the theme “Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future: Attend Weighing Regularly”.

Mr. Stanley Quaynor, the Accra Metro Director of the NCCE, said as part of its public education mandate, the NCCE engaged various groups on the importance of routine child immunisation, especially for children aged zero to two years, and advocated for regular weighing, exclusive breastfeeding, and family planning practices.

Mr. Quaynor emphasised the NCCE’s role in complementing public health initiatives with grassroots education, indicating that they visited churches, mosques, market centres, youth groups, and women’s associations to encourage mothers to prioritise child health and nutrition.

He said some of the places visited included the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Love Congregation at North Kaneshie, and other faith-based organisations and identifiable groupings.

“In addition to community outreach, the directorate conducted extensive media sensitisation, holding radio and television discussions across the three sub-metros of the Accra Metropolis—namely Okaikoi South, Ashiedu Keteke, and Ablekuma South.”

He added that while his outfit led the educational front, teams from the GHS carried out vaccination exercises targeting infants and toddlers, ensuring that immunization coverage within the metropolis was reinforced.

According to him, the joint effort underscores the government’s commitment to advancing child survival and public health awareness and aligns with Ghana’s broader objectives under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

He reaffirmed the NCCE’s commitment to deepening civic awareness around public health, calling on all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, parents, and community influencers, to play active roles in ensuring that every child received essential healthcare from birth.
