Muslim urged to avoid early marriages - MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South has called on Muslim communities in the country to eschew the practice of early marriage especially of their girl child.

According to her, the focus now should be how to ensure the girl child is given the opportunity to have formal education that will prepare them for a better future.

The MCE, Diana Attaa Kusiwaa gave the advice when she joined the Muslims for the inauguration of the Islamic Mission Secretariat (IMS) in the Nkoranza North and South municipalities.

Speaking to the Islamic Missionary, she noted that quality education for the girl child in Muslim communities must be the concern of all but most importantly the Muslim women so they should make sure they send their girl child to school instead of giving them out for early marriage.
