The MP’s statement underscored a commitment to meeting the essential needs of the constituents, from water access to institutional capacity building.
Key Development Highlights
Water Security:
Access to potable drinking water has been a central focus, with projects cited in Logba Klikpo and Tafi Konda (Tomefa). Furthermore, multiple communities—including Nyagbo Konda, Logba Alakpeti, Tafi Abuife, and Leklebi Duga—received crucial support in the form of submersible water pump machines and water tanks.
Social Infrastructure: In health and education, the MP confirmed support for a temporary health facility at Liati Dafonu/Nyive/Tove. Several schools benefited from essential renovations, including the reroofing of classroom blocks at Ve Wudome D/A JHS, Liati Agbonyra Roman Catholic Basic Schools and Tafi Abuife Roman Catholic Kindergarten.
A fruit shed was also constructed at Logba Alakpeti.
Job Creation through Institutional Growth Central to MP Afriyie’s agenda is empowering local communities through employment and institutional presence:
EPA Local Office Established: The successful setup of a local Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) office was announced. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the MP solidified this achievement by presenting appointment letters to fifteen (15) constituents, who officially began their roles as EPA staff—a direct result the MP described as a “clear demonstration of progress in local job creation.”
Enhanced Healthcare Access and Jobs:
The construction of a new National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office at Ve Golokuati is underway. This project is anticipated to not only improve healthcare access for residents but also generate direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Mr. Afriyie also took the moment to pay tribute to H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, acknowledging their "historic role" in the creation of the Afadzato South District in 2012.
Future Economic Pillars
Looking forward, the MP stated that tourism and agriculture would be the key focus areas for the district’s economic transformation. These sectors are slated to unlock "immense potential for youth employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth" for a more prosperous Afadzato South.
