Denmark Prime Minister calls on Tema Mayor

The Prime Minister (PM) of Denmark, Her Excellency Mette Frederiksen, has paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Tema, Mr Yohane Amarh Ashitey, as part of her two day official tour of Ghana.

The PM earlier called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The visit by the Prime Minister to Ghana is to further strengthen the sixty year old diplomatic relations between Denmark and Ghana.

Tema, however, has since 2019 signed a Sister partnership with Aarhus, a Port City in Denmark.

The PM, therefore, took a tour of the ongoing Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) between Tema and Aarhus.

Speaking to the media, Her Excellency Frederiksen expressed her gratitude to the Chiefs and people of Tema for their warm reception and gave the assurance that the cooperation will be sustained for the mutual benefit of all.

On his part, Mr Ashitey expressed his profound appreciation to the Prime Minister and her Team for their historic visit.

He pledged that the Assembly will ensure that the planned resuscitation of the Chemu Lagoon and the reconstruction of the entire Tema Sewerage Network are successfully completed.

Present to grace the occasion were the Acting President of Tema Traditional Council, Nii Adjetey Agbo, Tema Mankralo, the National Dean of Presiding Members, Joseph Korto, The Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Alhaji Shehu Kadiri and other Officials from TMA, Ghana Water Company and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
