“Study hard and come out with flying colours” – Ashaiman MCE

The Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA), Mr Albert Boakye Okyere, has charged candidates sitting for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Municipality to study hard and desist from all forms of malpractices in order to come out with flying colors.

The MCE said this when he was speaking to some candidates on Monday ahead of the start of the examination.

He visited some exams centres in the municipality where he took time to interact with the candidates.

Some of the centres that were visited include; Ashaiman SHS, St. Mary’s, Ashaiman Cluster of schools and the St. Augustine school.

In the Ashaiman Municipality alone, a total of 3,737 candidates, comprising 1,829 boys and 1,908 girls, are writing this year's BECE.

Interacting with the candidates ahead of their social studies and ICT papers, the MCE advised them not to indulge themselves in any form of exam malpractices, and also other practices that are contrary to the examination rules.

Mr Boakye Okyere also revealed that the Assembly has set out some sponsorship package for the best female and male students of this year’s BECE in the area.

“The Assembly has set aside some money to sponsor the best candidate of this year’s BECE in Ashaiman. We are expecting our students to perform creditably to enjoy President Akufo-Addo’s free SHS policy” the MCE noted.

A total number of 552,276 candidates from 18,501 schools will take the BECE for School Candidates (SC) at 2,023 centres throughout the country. The entry figure is made up of 276,988 males and 275,288 females. The number of candidates that registered for this year’s BECE (SC) is 3.48% less than the 2021 entry figure of 572,167.

Meanwhile, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has indicated that about 552,276 candidates from 18,501 schools will take the BECE at 2,023 centres throughout the country.

The entry figure is made up of 276,988 males and 275,288 females. According to the Council, the number of candidates that registered for this year’s BECE is 3.48% less than the 2021 entry figure of 572,167.
