KRACHI W: Assembly enters into Cashew business
The Krachi West District Assembly through the Department of Agriculture and the Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP) has developed a cashew nursery site at Monkra to promote the plantation of cashew in larger quantities for both local and foreign markets.

This was disclosed by District Chief Executive of the area, Mr Douglas Osei Nti at the assembly’s first ordinary general meeting at Kete Krachi. According to him, the project was the second phase of the government’s “Planting for Jobs and Rural Development “programme which was rolled out nationwide.
He further revealed that the Assembly was still liaising with the Chiefs and Elders of the area to release ten (10) mile square land for the cashew plantation.
He was optimistic that the programme will also generate money for the assembly to execute project various communities across the district.
He added that the programme is also aimed at providing jobs for the teaming unemployed youth in the district and thus urge all Assembly members to educate their electorate to take advantage of the job opportunities available under the programme.
