30-DAY countdown launched in Mion district
Mion District joined the rest of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country to launch the 30-day count-down to the 2021 Population and Housing Census night. The event which marks the final preparation to the census is aimed at creating awareness of the citizenry of importance of the exercise.

In his welcome remarks, the District Co-coordinating Director Mr Musah Issaka thanked the stakeholders who for love of the district fined time out of their busy schedule to attend the program. The DCD was very emphatic on what the district stands to benefit on this exercise.
According to him, the census data will help address the data gap needed for effective planning of sectorial programmes at the district level.
The chief script of Mion District Assembly assured Ghana statistical service and for that matter Ghanaians at large of assembly’s support to ensure the successful conduct of the census through the district census implementation committee.
The District Chief Executive Hon. Alhaj Mohammed Hashim Abdallah in his address described this year’s census as unique and different in several aspects from the previous census Ghana has ever had.
The digitization of census, the use of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of all structures, the use of online dashboards and comprehensive data quality assurance procedures, and among others were some of the unique features of this year’s population and housing census, that’s according to the hon. DCE.
The Dean of DCEs in the northern region called on all more especially political parties, traditional authorities, religious leaders, and social media users, civil society organizations to use all platforms available to support publicity, education and advocacy activities of the census.
He further called on them to welcome census officials to their communities and places of abode and provide them with the necessary information the census requires.
The program was well attended including but not limited to traditional authorities, political party representatives, religious leaders, Civil society organizations, CBOs, Youth groups, Women groups and among others.
