AMA hosts new Chief Director

The newly appointed Chief Director for the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), Madam Lilian Baeka has paid a working visit to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

The purpose of the visit, which was marked by enthusiasm and a shared vision for progress, was to introduce herself to the staff of the AMA as well as interact with them to enhance service delivery and sustainable development in the city.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Lilian Baeka, a seasoned public administrator renowned for her strategic leadership, admonished the staff of the AMA to exhibit a high level of professionalism and operate in accordance with the Local Government Service protocols.
The Chief Director who arrived at the Accra City Hall in the company of officials from the GARCC to a warm welcome from the staff and management of the Assembly also used the opportunity to highlight the significance of unity, teamwork and cooperation among various departments and units to increase productivity.

She expressed displeasure over the delay in the submission of reports by staff and urged them to turn on a new leaf. On lateness and punctuality to work, Madam Baeka reiterated the Regional Minister’s directive to Assemblies to install the clock-in machine, enabling the system to distinguish between who arrives early and who arrives late for work.
Madam Baeka advised all staff on transfers to assume their new roles to avoid sanctions. The new Chief Director also urged the AMA to prepare its budget for approval before the dissolution of the Assembly to avoid delays and prepare for upcoming assessments. The Chief Executive of AMA, Elizabeth K.T Sackey, was optimistic the visit would leave a sense of renewed hope and determination.

"This visit is a significant step towards a more coordinated and efficient approach to addressing the challenges facing staff and our beloved Accra. We are excited to work hand-in-hand with the new Chief Director to create a brighter future for our residents, " she said.

In addition to discussing immediate challenges facing staff of the Assembly, the visit also touched on pertinent issues raised by staff during the open forum including capacity building, staff welfare and remuneration of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) staff among others.
