Anglogold Ashanti trains women in financial literacy

Mining giant, Anglogold Ashanti Ghana (AAG), Obuasi Mine has ended a 2-day workshop on financial management for some 60 women in its operational areas in the Obuasi Municipality.

In all, about 400 women are expected to be trained under the programme.

Madam Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei, the Social Development and Gender Development Superintendent of AAG said, the women were taken through training in Financial Planning and Financial decision making, small business, Manual Book-Keeping ,Calculation skills- using calculator for transactions, Building a positive banking habit and Types of Accounts available to micro-businesses (savings, current, fixed deposit).


She revealed that the company is much concerned about strengthening the competencies of women in all sectors of the economy.

She added that the company will also ensure an inclusive development agenda in order to make the communities where AAG operate better off.


She stated that this programme would continue from now to December.
