Birim North marks Ghana’s 61 Anniversary

The District Chief Executive for the Birim North District, Raymond Nana Damptey in his anniversary speech thank the people of Birim North for their support since the government assumed office.”
He said the theme for the anniversary “Ghana Beyond Aid” requires that we collectively work towards judicious use of resources towards building strong economy, adding, the Ghana is blessed with a lot of natural resources that should be harnessed for economic independence.
He however noted that achieving this requires that we develop our human resource, widen our tax net and avoid corruption.
He also expressed his worry about the alarming state of teenage pregnancy which has dented the image of the Birim North District and called on all stakeholders to help fight emerging canker.
The Member of Parliament for Abirem Constituency, John Osei Frimpong also asserted the fact that Ghana Beyond Aid requires a deliberate effort of all and sundry. He said we must eschew corruption, to build a vibrant economy, change our attitudes and embrace the values that defines us as a nation.
He stated that the Right to information bill and the special prosecutor will help reduce corruption and for that matter crime in the country.
Nana Chairman, Oberempong Amoh Tweretwie I on his part expressed concern about the debilitating nature of our development to politics, adding "Politics is spoiling our country". He also raised concern on the recent robbery cases in the country and urged all individuals to do away with political mentality and help the police with information to enable them bring these perpetrators to book.
He called on all and sundry to embrace truth, transparency and accountability in order to build a prosperous nation.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Abirem Constituency, John Osei Frimpong made a special presentation of 100 pieces of mathematical sets to Abokyikrom School for ranking 8th position in the region and 1st in the district in last year’s BECE.
