Speaking on their views on the 2025 Budget, they said the removal of the E-Levy would ease financial burden on them, while improving their incomes for the growth of their businesses.
Mr. Desmond Tyro, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mayor’s Tap, dealers in computers and other electrical equipment, said that the government’s decision to abolish the E-Levy had come as a sigh of relief to his business.
He said: “We buy and sell online so, paying for goods through electronic means became very expensive when the E-Levy was introduced, because you have to add extra charges before transferring money to your customers.
“We are happy that the government has announced that it will redeem its pledge of removing the E-Levy so that cost of doing business will reduce and our income, increased.”
Mr. James Adomako, a mobile phone dealer, also applauded the government for the significant step to remove the tax burden on households and businesses.
He said: “Our business demands that we transact business electronically so paying additional charges has been a huge burden because at the end of the day, some of our profits go into paying for goods that we order online.”
Mrs Agnes Ato, a clothing shop owner, noted that the removal of the E-Levy would not only cushion businesses, but also a bold step towards fostering economic growth.
