New Juaben North elects PM, confirms new MCE

New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has elected a new Presiding Member and confirmed the President’s nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The election was smoothly conducted by the Electoral Commission, led by the Municipal Electoral Officer, Madam Dorcas Akoto.
In the Presiding Member election, Hon. Kwame Antwi Jacob secured 22 votes (68.75%) out of 30 Assembly Members present, defeating his opponent who received 8 votes.

There were no rejected ballots. Following his victory, Hon. Jacob thanked the Assembly Members for their support and pledged to work diligently to improve the proceedings of the Assembly.

Subsequently, the President’s nominee for MCE, Hon. Samuel Adongo, was unanimously confirmed. He received 29 out of 29 votes cast (100%). The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, sworn him into office immediately.

Hon. Awatey expressed her gratitude to the Assembly Members for their confidence in the President’s nominee. She urged them to work collaboratively as a team to achieve the Assembly’s development goals.

In his acceptance address, Hon. Adongo thanked President John Dramani Mahama for the trust reposed in him and the Assembly Members for their overwhelming endorsement.

“The mandate ahead of us is clear, and we must work together to enhance the quality of life for the citizenry in the Municipality,” he stressed.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North Constituency, Hon. Nana Osei Adjei, also pledged to collaborate closely with the new MCE to lobby for developmental projects for the Municipality.

The event was attended by Heads of the various Departments of the Assembly, representatives of security agencies, party members, and the general public.
