Ghana scored 40 out of a possible clean score of 100 which ranked the country 81 out of 180 countries assessed, the lowest since 2012.
The nine institutions which assessed Ghana’s corruption perception in 2017, which included World Bank Country policy and institutional assessment, seven of them scored the government below 50 signaling a poor performance in the fight against corruption in 2017.
She also cited the appointment of Martin Amidu as the country’s special prosecutor on corruption.
The man, who is fondly called Citizen Vigilante after securing judgment for the state in the infamous Woyome scandal that took the nation by storm, was nominated by President Akufo-Addo and subsequently approved by parliament as the country’s first special prosecutor who has been giving the mandate to do the job that he likes most – chasing suspected corrupt public officials.
She called on everybody in the country to start the fight against corruption as it would help the country save allot of resources should we fight and eliminate the canker in the country,
Hon Katherine said it is only the Npp government that is committed to fighting the canker.
