The session took place at the Assembly’s Conference Room and was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Ms. Sheila Rosetta Arthur, and other senior officials.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Arthur welcomed the new MCE and emphasized the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and continuity in the execution of the Assembly’s development agenda.
She urged staff to cooperate fully with the new leadership to ensure smooth operations and sustained progress across the municipality.
Following the MCD’s remarks, heads of department took turns to introduce their respective departments and gave brief overviews of their activities.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Salifu Issaka expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and described the meeting as a valuable learning opportunity as he begins his tenure. He affirmed his commitment to justifying the trust placed in him by ensuring that the right systems and procedures are upheld throughout his administration.
He outlined his vision for a results-oriented leadership that emphasizes discipline, punctuality, and accountability. “I believe leadership is about setting the right example. I will be time-conscious and expect the same from every officer. Let us do the right things, and let our performance speak through results,” he stated.
Hon. Issaka stressed the importance of collaboration among departments and encouraged a data-driven approach to policy and project implementation. He also called for fairness and equity in service delivery, regardless of background or beliefs.
“I am not interested in anyone’s political affiliation, tribe, or religion,” he said firmly. “What matters to me is your competence and your contribution to the progress of the municipality. Let’s move away from unnecessary politicking and focus on our core mandate.”
He further assured that revenue collected would be used transparently and strictly for its intended purposes, pledging financial discipline and responsible governance.
On staff relations, the MCE made it clear that his administration would not tolerate intimidation, favoritism, or decisions based on gossip. “I will not act on hearsay. I respect structures, and I expect everyone to adhere to the chain of command,” he emphasized.
The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with a shared commitment among department heads to work collaboratively with the new MCE towards the continued development of the Bekwai Municipality.
